HI! I'M HAYLEY
Hi! I am Hayley Allred, and my purpose is to live life without regrets. I am creative, adventurous, and passionate. Some say I live in my only little world, but my worlds amazing and I plan to share that with the people around me. I am a junior Communication, Advertising major at Appalachian State University planning to graduate early in December 2018. I have completed a minor in Studio Art and I am very experienced in the field and applications of Graphic Design.
I found my passion for Graphic Design during my 10th grade year of high school in a media graphics class. I then created logos throughout high school for companies and organizations such as the Carpenter Village Swim team. This class also certified me in many programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop while being fluent in many of their other programs. Another class I took in high school also led me to hold the title of a Microsoft Office Master. This means I am certified Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and certified as an Expert in Microsoft Word and Excel. I went into college pursuing my passion in the art department with Graphic design. I soon came to find out in sophomore year that I was in a major that was far from what I wanted to do with Graphic Design. It was too conceptual and independent. I wanted to create graphics for a business or to please a client, not as self-satisfying art. I quickly made the major change before my credits I had taken started to count for nothing. I switched to Communication Advertising in the Spring of 2017 and transferred my art credits to a minor in Studio Art. While I was nervous about my major change, a ran into an opportunity for a summer internship as a Social Media Marketer at Triangle Aquatics Center in Cary, NC. I knew internships were a good thing to have under my belt so I applied, interviewed, and got the position. Over the summer of 2017, I found a passion for communication and advertising that confirmed the switch I made earlier that spring was very much a good one. I wanted a job that could support me but also one I would like to wake up happy every morning to go to. So, I decided to declare a creative emphasis in Communication Advertising and strive to become a Social Media Marketer in the future. I can’t wait to see what my last year at Appalachian State teaches me!
